Job summary

H Squared Talent is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer (firmware, real-time control and hardware integration) for a growing UK manufacturer of high-precision test instrumentation. You will lead firmware projects from concept to production, primarily in C and C++, while collaborating with electronics engineers on hardware interfaces to ensure precise test results.

The role blends new development with in-depth work on existing code, offering ownership from day one.

Qualifications

• RTOS firmware development experience on microcontrollers or embedded processors (C/C++).
• Proven track record leading firmware from scratch to release or major fixes.
• Hands-on hardware experience: reading schematics, using oscilloscopes and debuggers.
• Familiarity with embedded protocols.
• Clear communication across firmware and non‑firmware colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead firmware projects from specification through production in C/C++.
• Analyse existing firmware and identify changes to improve robustness and security.
• Write real-time code for microcontrollers interfacing with sensors and actuators.
• Define hardware/firmware interfaces with electronics engineers.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation and best practices.
• Assist production and support teams in diagnosing firmware issues.
