Leonardo UK is seeking experienced Lead Software Engineers to take on pivotal Technical Authority roles within our Electronic Warfare and Future Combat Air programmes based in Luton. This role blends technical leadership with strategic influence, giving you autonomy and responsibility for critical software components or entire projects.

You will bring embedded software experience in mission‑critical domains, set technical direction, ensure DO‑178C compliance, drive risk mitigation, mentor

Qualifications

• Embedded software experience in mission-critical domains (aerospace/defence).
• Ability to set and drive software architecture and direction.
• Experience delivering DO-178C compliant software through certification.
• Strong risk management and governance capabilities.
• Proven leadership and mentoring of engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction and architecture for EW and future combat programmes.
• Ensure DO-178C compliance and adherence to governance processes.
• Mentor engineers and promote software engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware and firmware teams for coherent integration.
• Act as accountable technical lead during audits and reviews.
