Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to steer the Information Advantage team across multiple UK sites in a hybrid role. You will code hands-on while guiding the team through design, development, integration and delivery of secure, high-quality software for mission-critical Aerospace, Defence and Security applications.

You’ll influence architecture, lead technical reviews, mentor engineers and promote modern practices like CI/CD, DevSecOps and automation, working with systems

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with technical leadership.
• Strong leadership and development experience in C++, C#, Python or Java.
• Understanding of SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Experience in software architecture and system integration.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices.
• Experience across the software engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day technical delivery within a team or work package.
• Design, develop, integrate and test complex software solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Own detailed software design and contribute to architecture reviews.
• Lead code and design reviews and collaborate with systems engineers and customers.
• Promote automation, CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
• Support planning, estimation, risk management and delivery.
