Job summary

Leonardo UK is recruiting for a Principal Engineer to contribute to radar software within our Edinburgh team. You will develop software for embedded systems using Ada, C++, and Python, and work across the full software lifecycle on a high‑profile defence programme.

This on‑site role requires UK security clearance considerations and a strong engineering background in Radar/Tracking principles, with collaboration across systems, integration and test disciplines.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ada, C++ and Python in defence/aerospace context.
• Experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle.
• Ability to work autonomously in a small multi-disciplinary team.
• Knowledge of embedded software development and radar tracking.

Responsibilities

• Develop software across full lifecycle for radar/embedded systems.
• Program in Ada, C++, Python; document work under CM and deliver reports.
• Work onsite at Edinburgh with systems and integration teams.
• Create and present technical reports and progress updates.
