Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. seeks a senior software engineer to lead compliance automation initiatives.

You will embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams, translating regulatory workflows into scalable engineering requirements and delivering tangible efficiency gains. You’ll prototype on Coinbase's AI platform, define build-vs-buy strategies, and ensure auditability and human-in-the-loop controls, so every output is traceable and regulator-friendly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems in complex environments.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications with guardrails and human-in-the-loop design.
• Ability to translate regulatory workflows into engineering requirements for Compliance.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and audit-ready data handling.
• Experience in Forward Deployed/embedded advisory roles in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface automation opportunities with business leverage.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the foundation before new builds.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with leadership and translate workflows into engineering constraints.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling and ensure regulatory alignment.
• Ensure outputs are traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators with auditability and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Drive adoption through brown-bags and prototype walkthroughs to ensure tools are used.
