Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Engineer – Electrical – Verification & Validation Delivery to lead the V&V of complex electrical power systems for the Rolls-Royce SMR power station, coordinating verification activities and delivering evidence-based conclusions.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers and subject-matter experts across safety, C&I, protection and power systems, developing verification strategies and ensuring compliant evidence across analysis, testing

Qualifications

• Degree or substantial experience in electrical engineering, power systems, systems engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Significant electrical or power-systems experience with verification, testing, quality, assurance or technical substantiation; or
• Significant V&V, design assurance, quality or engineering-assurance experience with sound knowledge of electrical power systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain verification and validation strategies for allocated electrical systems, capabilities or components.
• Translate electrical and safety requirements into verification activities, methods, acceptance criteria and evidence needs.
• Review electrical engineering analyses and studies (load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, motor starting, voltage/frequency).
• Define objectives and requirements for tests, demonstrations, inspections, similarity assessments and analytical activities; align with internal teams and suppliers.
• Challenge assumptions, methods, input data, model suitability, test coverage and evidence quality; set early equipment qualification expectations for nuclear plants.
• Assess evidence against requirements, record compliance judgements and identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and further work.
• Support verification of safety claims and produce clear technical reports for governance and regulatory engagement.
• Manage technical interfaces across electrical, C&I, safety, mechanical, civil, commissioning and supply-chain teams.
• Perform independent technical checks and mentor engineers to improve V&V delivery.
