Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Scotland is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join the pre-construction team. The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for a range of building services projects across Scotland, collaborating with clients, consultants and suppliers to secure profitable new work.

You will review drawings, carry out take-offs, and build accurate cost plans while staying aware of market conditions and pricing trends. Competitive salary and excellent benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the Building Services sector.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services installations.
• Experience pricing projects across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial or public sector environments.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A recognised Electrical Engineering, Building Services or related qualification.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience pricing projects ranging from £500k to £20m+ would be advantageous.
• Candidates with experience in data centres, renewable energy, defence, healthcare or mission‑critical environments are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical estimates and competitive tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Carry out take-offs and produce accurate cost plans.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions.
• Assess project risks, opportunities and commercial viability.
• Support bid submissions and tender presentations.
• Liaise with project delivery teams during project handover.
• Maintain awareness of market conditions, labour costs and material pricing.
