Job summary

Chemring Energetics UK is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead safe, reliable electrical infrastructure across the site and guide compliance with UK legislation. Reporting to Head of Site Engineering, you will own HV/LV distribution, hazardous area controls, asset integrity and drive improvement through capital projects and MoC processes.

This hands-on role shapes engineering standards and collaborates across engineering, maintenance, operations and HSSE.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Strong practical knowledge of UK electrical legislation, standards and best practice.
• Experience with High Voltage (HV) systems and electrical safety management.
• Working knowledge of hazardous area regulations and ATEX/DSEAR requirements.
• Experience in electrical asset management, maintenance, engineering or project delivery.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain electrical engineering standards across the site, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company policies.
• Act as Electrical Duty Holder or support the appointed Duty Holder, providing technical leadership for electrical safety management.
• Oversee HV/LV distribution system compliance, including inspections, maintenance, testing and certification.
• Develop and improve electrical safety rules, safe systems of work, isolation procedures and permit‑to‑work standards.
• Provide technical leadership for ATEX and hazardous area electrical compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Lead electrical asset integrity activities for safe, reliable operation of critical infrastructure and equipment.
• Support reliability improvements, failure investigations and root cause analysis.
• Provide electrical engineering expertise across the capital investment programme and project design reviews.
• Review and approve electrical design packages to meet regulatory and operational requirements.
• Provide engineering oversight during project installation, commissioning, modification and handover.
• Support MoC processes, assessing impact of electrical changes on safety and reliability.
• Manage electrical contractors and service providers to ensure safe, competent delivery.
• Establish and maintain electrical standards, procedures and specifications across the site.
• Develop asset replacement and obsolescence strategies for critical infrastructure.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets for electrical compliance and maintenance.
• Lead investigations into electrical incidents and near misses with effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and HSSE to promote electrical safety and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve electrical systems for reliability and efficiency.
