BGEN Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to provide design and technical support for major UK projects. You will deliver high-quality electrical installation designs, coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors, and ensure compliance with BS7671 and client specifications.

The role involves LV power systems, switchgear, earthing, lighting, fire and security systems, and EV charging infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or comparable demonstratable experience.
• Chartership through a professional institution desirable.
• Proven delivery of electrical installation designs for major UK projects.
• Strong experience on UK-based construction projects.
• Knowledge of BS7671 and client specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering design and technical support for safe, efficient project delivery.
• Produce high-quality design documentation and coordinate with internal disciplines and subcontractors.
• Support delivery against quality, cost, and programme objectives; drive continuous improvement.
• Deliver design and site support for LV power systems, switchgear, earthing, lighting, fire and security systems, cabling, UPS, EV charging, and hazardous area installations.
• Interface with Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil teams for integrated outcomes.

Where you’ll be working?

BGEN is one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Food and Beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions.

What you'll be doing?

Provide electrical engineering design and technical support to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with BS7671 and client specifications. Produce high-quality design documentation and coordinate with internal disciplines and subcontractors. Support project delivery against quality, cost, and programme objectives while driving continuous improvement and innovative solutions. Deliver design and site support for LV power systems, switchgear, earthing, lighting, fire and security systems, structured cabling, UPS, EV charging infrastructure, lightning protection, and hazardous area installations to BS EN 60079-14. Interface closely with Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil teams to achieve integrated project outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

• Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design/technical support role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs of major projects for the UK.
• Degree in electrical engineering or comparable demonstratable experience working at this level
• Chartership through professional Institution desirable
• Strong experience in UK based construction projects
• Experience of Electrical Building Services design best practices
• Strong understanding of design process & associated documentation
• Project lifecycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015 together with experience of undertaking ‘Designer’ and 'Principal Designer' role
