Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for Balance of Plant projects within its T&D business. You will deliver engineering designs, perform sizing calculations, and coordinate with BIM teams across locations including UK, Middle East, Canada, and ANZ.

The role requires 8–10 years in detailed design, proficiency with Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, and DIALux evo, and strong knowledge of IEC/BS/IEEE standards. Hybrid/ international assignments offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8–10 years in detailed design for thermal, nuclear, or renewable energy sectors.
• Knowledge of power generation and distribution equipment (Solar PV, BESS, transformers, switchgear, relays, cables, motors, UPS).
• Familiarity with 2D/3D BIM environments and international standards (IEC/BS/IEEE).
• Ability to lead projects or contribute as an individual.

Responsibilities

• Deliver diverse projects and ensure client expectations are met.
• Prepare basis of design, electrical design risk assessments, and system configuration reports.
• Prepare proposals and man-hour estimations; perform technical bid evaluation and vendor drawing reviews.
• Conduct clash detection and coordination with other utilities; review drawings/models (Navisworks, Plant 3D, Revit, Civil 3D).
• Prepare SLD, electrical equipment sizing (transformers, switchgear, batteries, UPS), and IO lists.
• Size LV/MV cables and design cable trays/layouts; perform lighting calculations and illumination layouts.
