Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Ecologist in Liverpool to lead complex ecological projects, supervise surveys, and deliver high-quality assessments and management plans. The role requires strong consultancy experience and UK ecological knowledge, with opportunities to mentor junior ecologists and contribute to business development.

The position is permanent and based in Liverpool, offering a competitive salary with pension, 25 days leave, and discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree and strong consultancy experience.
• Associate/Full CIEEM membership or working towards.
• Strong project management and report-writing skills.
• Excellent knowledge of UK ecology legislation and guidance.
• Experience mentoring or managing junior staff.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Full right to work in the UK.
• Living in or within a commutable distance of the Liverpool office.

Responsibilities

• Managing medium to large and complex ecological projects.
• Leading surveys, site visits and ECoW work.
• Producing high-quality ecological assessments, reports and management plans.
• Providing specialist ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
• Managing subcontractors and quality-checking project deliverables.
• Line managing and mentoring junior ecologists.
• Supporting business development, tenders and client relationships.
