Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our independent environmental consultancy in Liverpool. You will manage medium to large ecological projects, lead surveys and ECoW work, and deliver high-quality ecological assessments and management plans.

The role requires strong project management, knowledge of UK ecology legislation, mentoring experience, and a valid UK driving licence. This is a permanent position with a flexible benefits package and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree and strong consultancy experience.
• Associate/Full CIEEM membership or working towards.
• Strong project management and report-writing skills.
• Excellent knowledge of UK ecology legislation and guidance.
• Experience mentoring or managing junior staff.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Managing medium to large and complex ecological projects.
• Leading surveys, site visits and ECoW work.
• Producing high-quality ecological assessments, reports and management plans.
• Providing specialist ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
• Managing subcontractors and quality-checking project deliverables.
• Line managing and mentoring junior ecologists.
• Supporting business development, tenders and client relationships.
