Job summary

Amey Group Services LTD is seeking a permanent Senior Ecologist to join its Advisory team in Cardiff or Bristol. The role supports ecology on road contracts and national frameworks, leading on projects and mentoring junior ecologists.

You will collaborate with public sector clients and contribute to business development opportunities. The role requires established ecological expertise, species surveys, licence handling (EPS), and a track record in environmental management and bid preparation.

Qualifications

• Developed experience and expertise within the ecological field.
• Expertise in protected species surveys.
• EPS Mitigation licence application experience or licence holder (bats & dormice).
• Experience in invasive species survey and management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ecological processes and survey methodologies.
• Ability to produce technically sound ecological solutions in line with wildlife law and client needs.
• Ability to apply ecological management theory to project tasks with risk assessment awareness.
• Degree in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Biology or Environmental Science.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to produce technically sound deliverables for ecological commissions.
• Prepare and check documentation for scheme deliverables meeting quality, cost and programme criteria.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives; attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
• Lead a small, locally based single-discipline technical team and manage workload delivery.
• Contribute to bids and general winning work activities.
• Promote health and safety practices within the team.
