Job summary

Amey is recruiting an Ecologist to support ecology activities on road contracts across Scotland, including active travel schemes. You will assist Senior Ecologists, lead on projects where appropriate, and mentor junior staff while engaging with regional and national public-sector clients.

The role requires protected species survey experience and relevant licences, with potential leadership on bids and health and safety compliance within projects.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have developed experience and expertise in ecology and related fields.
• Expertise in protected species surveys and licenses.
• Experience with EPS mitigation licences and protected species licences.
• Knowledge of invasive species survey and management.
• Strong understanding of ecological processes and survey methodologies.
• Formal CIEEM membership or working towards.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team, delivering ecologically sound project deliverables.
• Prepare and check documentation for scheme deliverables that satisfy quality, cost and programme criteria.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives; attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
• Mentor junior ecologists and support business development opportunities.
• Promote health and safety practices within the team.
