Job summary

Northern Health and Social Care Trust seeks an Advanced Cardiac Physiologist – Echocardiography to perform and report on adult TTEs and assist in TOE and DSE across NHSCT sites. The post requires lead responsibility for day-to-day Echocardiography service delivery and capacity planning.

The role includes participation in a 7-day rota on the Antrim site, with flexible involvement across Northern Trusts sites.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include BSc in Clinical Physiology/Cardiac Physiology or equivalent, and live HCPC/AHCS registration.
• Postgraduate CPD with full BSE accreditation in Adult Echocardiography is required.
• ILS certification (within previous 24 months) is expected.
• Minimum 2 years’ Band 6 echocardiography experience; 1 year reporting on TTE following full BSE accreditation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and hospital IT systems (e.g., Encompass, NIECR).
• Hold a current full UK driving licence; car access is required or availability of approved transport.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day management of the NHSCT Echocardiography service.
• Provide clinical reports for all cardiac physiology investigations with appropriate accreditation.
• Map and redesign workflows to optimise patient service delivery.
• Foster strong working relationships between Cardiac Physiologists, Nurses and Cardiologists.
• Assist in future development of Cardiac Physiology Services and advise on business cases.
• Plan upgrades and equipment to ensure facilities meet best practice.
