Job summary

Staffordshire County Council invites an experienced Early Years Senior Consultant (Improvement) to strengthen practice and outcomes for children across the county, with a focus on Reception year development.

The role involves leading improvement work with settings, schools and partners within the Best Start in Life programme, contributing to Staffordshire’s aim for higher Good Level of Development by 2028.

Qualifications

• Level 6 qualification in Early Years, Education, SEND or related field with QTS.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile as a statutory assessment tool.
• Ability to analyse EYFSP data, identify priorities and drive improvement.
• Experience of working with schools and educational leaders to improve outcomes in EYFS.
• Experience leading teams or projects delivering sustained improvement for children and families.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with setting leaders to strengthen curriculum design, assessment and teaching in the Reception year.
• Support settings to improve progress, focusing on at-risk children.
• Promote inclusive practice ensuring access to high-quality early education.
• Monitor, evaluate and support settings to improve outcomes through observation and development planning.
• Build partnerships with schools and trusts to support transitions and outcomes by end of Reception year.
• Collaborate with schools and Family Hubs to improve teaching and learning approaches.
• Lead targeted development activities to improve outcomes for Reception year children.
• Promote consistent assessment practice for reliable end-of-Reception assessments.
