Job summary

MDA Space in Manchester seeks a Senior DSP Firmware Engineer to join our UK team developing space telemetry payloads and sensors for advanced satellite systems.

You will design and implement DSP algorithms on FPGA, HDL code (VHDL/Verilog), and help maintain existing products while collaborating across disciplines in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in an analytical or quantitative field (CS, Engineering, Physics or similar).
• 5+ years of signal processing design and FPGA implementation experience.
• Strong VHDL and Verilog coding and FPGA test skills.
• Experience with SoC cores and vector processors (e.g. Xilinx Versal AI Engines) is desirable.
• Ability to lead design teams is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop space telecom payloads, instruments and sensors as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Design, simulate and implement DSP algorithms for telecoms and sensing applications.
• Produce firmware concepts from ICDs and requirements to blank-sheet system designs.
• Produce formal firmware requirements where necessary.
• HDL coding (VHDL and/or Verilog), implementation and testing.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software for space missions.
• Maintain and extend existing products.
