Job summary

Platform Recruitment in Stevenage is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to develop DSP and FPGA firmware for space and satellite systems. You will own DSP algorithm design and FPGA firmware development from concept through implementation, simulation and testing.

You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team on both established products and greenfield space-tech developments, translating high-level requirements into practical firmware. Hybrid work, £70-80k, and space tech exposure are offered.

Senior Firmware Engineer | £70-80k | Stevenage | Hybrid

An opportunity to develop advanced digital signal processing technology for next-generation space and satellite systems, working on technically challenging projects across telecommunications, sensing and space exploration.

This Senior Firmware Engineer role sits within a multidisciplinary engineering team developing sophisticated space-based payloads, instruments and sensors. You'll take ownership of DSP algorithm design and FPGA firmware development, working from initial concepts and system requirements through to implementation, simulation and testing.

You'll have the opportunity to work on both established products and new, greenfield developments, contributing to the design of innovative technologies for demanding, mission-critical applications.

• 5+ years' experience in digital signal processing design and implementation using FPGAs.


• Experience with FPGA simulation, verification and testing.


• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or another analytical/quantitative discipline.


• Experience working within formal configuration management and design control processes.


• C/C++ development for SoC cores or vector processors.


• Experience with Xilinx Versal FPGA AI Engines or similar platforms.


• Experience leading technical design teams.


• Familiarity with 5G/LTE radio stacks.


• Knowledge of radiation mitigation techniques for space-based electronics.
