Job summary

MDA Space is hiring an FPGA Engineer for its UK team to work on advanced space sensors and space‑based communications. You will contribute to satellite payload design, FPGA verification, and architecture for high‑reliability space systems.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in FPGA roles, strong VHDL/SystemVerilog skills, and experience with Vivado, Modelsim, and Libero. Hybrid/UK‑based role with security checks and a competitive package.

• 10+ years of FPGA engineering experience in space or high‑reliability sectors.
• Strong understanding of FPGA tech for space missions.
• Experience with VHDL and SystemVerilog.
• Proficient with FPGA design tools Vivado, Modelsim, Libero.
• Knowledge of digital communications and DSP.
• Experience leading complex FPGA projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team on satellite telecom payloads.
• Flow down subsystem requirements to FPGAs and verify designs.
• Architect, design and implement complex FPGA solutions for space.
• Develop IP blocks for AMD SoCs.
• Support high‑reliability hardware development in space.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers developing satellite telecommunication payloads for a variety of orbits and missions
• Flow down of sub‑system requirements to the FPGAs
• FPGA verification for high reliability / space systems
• Architecture, design and implementation of complex designs with Microchip FPGAs for space applications
• Development of IP blocks for AMD SoCs

Required Skills And Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in an FPGA engineering role, in the space or an equivalent high reliability sector
• Good understanding of FPGA technology for space
• Experience with VHDL and System Verilog
• Experience with FPGA design tools including Vivado, Modelsim and Libero
• Understanding of digital communications and DSP
• Leading complex FPGA projects
• Specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
• High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc)
• Knowledge of LEO/GEO communications payloads
• Signal integrity analysis
