Job summary

DWP Digital is seeking a DevOps leader to shape and deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions in Azure, employing IaC and modern CI/CD practices. You will drive the adoption of DevSecOps, observability, and resilience across teams, mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on end-to-end ownership of critical services and alignment with the organisation's transformation of public services, in a hybrid working environment across UK hubs.

Qualifications

• CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code – advanced capability in pipeline engineering and IaC using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI; Terraform and Azure tooling (ARM/Bicep).
• Containerisation and orchestration – Docker and Kubernetes, preferably AKS, from design to production support.
• Security and DevSecOps – secure-by-design, Zero Trust, secrets management (e.g., Key Vault), RBAC, vulnerability management.
• Automation and reliability engineering – Python, PowerShell, Bash; observability with Azure Monitor, Sentinel, Application Insights, Log Analytics; SLIs/SLOs and tracing.

Responsibilities

• Lead adoption of modern DevOps practices, build secure, scalable cloud solutions and drive faster delivery through automation and IaC.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of complex services; set technical direction, drive modern engineering practices and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with teams to raise standards across the organisation, focusing on resilience and observable, reliable services.
