Job summary

Pearson Carter is partnering with a well-established organisation to enhance, scale and stabilise its AWS-based production platforms. The Senior DevOps/Systems Developer will hands-on manage Linux production systems and evolve automation across cloud infrastructure.

You will work with software engineers and infrastructure specialists to improve deployments, monitoring, and incident response, taking ownership of automation and reliability improvements in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, Systems/Infrastrucure or senior technical role.
• Strong Linux production experience.
• Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, VPC, networking, load-balancing).
• Experience with production web/app/cache/db platforms (Nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL).
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; Ansible experience.
• Automation and tooling in Python/Bash.
• Experience with CDN/WAF technologies (Akamai/Cloudflare).
• Knowledge of modern CI/CD, Bitbucket Pipelines or equivalent.
• Incident management and root-cause investigations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop AWS estate components (EC2, VPCs, networking).
• Operate Linux production systems with focus on reliability and performance.
• Support and administer Nginx/Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Manage edge infrastructure, CDN and web security (Akamai/Cloudflare).
• Build and improve IaC with Terraform and Ansible.
