Job summary

Pearson Carter seeks a Senior DevOps / Systems Engineer to join a market-leading organisation investing in in-house tech. You will manage a production AWS estate, Linux infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, and work with CDN/WAF solutions and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch. Strong IaC and automation skills are essential.

Role involves on-call duties and collaboration with development teams to improve reliability and performance across the cloud estate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, Systems Engineer or SysAdmin role.
• Strong Linux admin skills in production environments.
• Significant AWS/cloud architecture experience (EC2, LBM, VPC).
• Hands-on with Nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• IaC expertise with Terraform and Ansible.
• Python and Bash automation experience.
• Experience with CDN/WAF (Akamai/Cloudflare).
• CI/CD pipelines and production incident management.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and improve a production AWS estate and networking.
• Maintain Linux infrastructure and services (Nginx, Apache, Redis, DBs).
• Operate CDN/WAF across Akamai and Cloudflare.
• Maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Support CI/CD pipelines with Bitbucket Pipelines.
• Monitor with Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom and New Relic.
• Investigate incidents and implement improvements.
• Automate tasks with Python and Bash.
• Participate in rotating 24/7 on-call rota.
