Job summary

Pearson Carter are supporting a leading UK organisation to recruit a Senior System Engineer for a fully remote role with an on-site Scotland office option. The role focuses on ownership of AWS infrastructure, Linux production environments, and modern CI/CD practices.

You will work across nginx/Apache, Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and security services (CDN/WAF) with Terraform/Ansible automation and Bitbucket Pipelines, contributing to reliability and efficiency in a 24/7 on-call environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in DevOps, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure or Senior Systems Administration.
• Extensive hands-on Linux and production environment experience.
• Strong AWS knowledge with EC2, VPCs and load balancers.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day AWS infrastructure operations (EC2, VPCs, load balancers, networking).
• Maintain and improve production Linux environments for critical apps and services.
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform and Ansible; ensure repeatable environments.
• Support CI/CD processes and tooling (Bitbucket Pipelines).
• Monitor performance and reliability with Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom, New Relic; perform root-cause analysis.
