Job summary

IFS is seeking an experienced DevOps professional for its Logistics platform. You will join a small, focused team as a second DevOps specialist, owning substantial workstreams and collaborating with application and data engineers.

You’ll implement robust observability, CI/CD discipline, and reliable deployment practices to support live operations. The role emphasizes security, cost awareness, and scalable infrastructure in a hybrid UK/NL environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience running production services on GCP.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab or a similar platform.
• Evidence that you have instrumented a real system and improved its metrics, logging, tracing or alerting.
• Examples of treating cloud cost as an engineering concern: attributing spend, finding waste and making informed trade‑offs.
• Experience operating data pipelines, such as streaming ingestion, warehouse loads, dbt transformations or similar workflows.
• The confidence to challenge an unsafe change and explain what needs to happen before it can ship.
• Practical experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude, including how you provide context and verify infrastructure changes before accepting them.
• The ability to assess an imperfect system, decide what matters most and carry the improvement through to production.

Responsibilities

• Build useful observability across Django API, data pipelines and warehouse; enable early problem detection.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab; add review and deployment controls into workflow.
• Reduce operational risk by tightening release controls and weekly cadence.
• Manage cloud cost; make spend visible by workload and product area; reduce waste.
• Develop infrastructure as code; improve Terraform and Kubernetes setup for reproducibility and security.
• Strengthen data-pipeline reliability: failure detection, freshness checks, replay paths and ownership.
• Respond and learn: contribute to incident management and automated checks to prevent recurring failures.
