Job summary

IFS Logistics seeks a hands-on DevOps Engineer to join the team building reliable, observable platforms on GCP with Kubernetes and Terraform. You will own pipeline quality, implement secure releases, optimize cloud spend and codify infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Strong experience running production services on GCP.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and Terraform with hands-on infra work.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab or similar.
• Evidence of instrumenting a real system with improved metrics, logging, tracing or alerting.
• Experience treating cloud cost as an engineering concern.
• Experience operating data pipelines (streaming ingestion, warehouse loads, dbt transformations).
• Ability to challenge an unsafe change and explain prerequisites for shipping.
• Practical experience with AI coding tools (Cursor or Claude).
• Ability to assess imperfect systems and drive improvements into production.

Responsibilities

• Build observability: metrics, logs, traces, alerts across Django API and data pipelines.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and enforce controlled deployments in GitLab.
• Reduce operational risk by removing unsafe production paths and stabilising weekly releases.
• Manage cloud cost visibility by workload and product area; reduce waste.
• Develop infrastructure as code with Terraform and Kubernetes to ensure reproducibility and security.
• Strengthen data-pipeline reliability with failure detection and ownership across Datastream, Pub/Sub, dbt and BigQuery.
• Shape incident management and on-call practices; turn recurring failures into automated checks.
