Pearson Carter Limited is recruiting a Senior Engineer to shape cloud infrastructure strategy while ensuring secure, stable and efficient platforms. The role focuses on AWS, Linux, IaC, automation and production reliability within a collaborative team.

The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, manage production systems, and implement scalable infrastructure solutions. Role is fully remote with an office in Scotland; UK work eligibility is required and 5+ years of

Qualifications

• Five years or more experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure or systems engineering.
• Strong Linux administration skills and production support experience.
• Hands-on AWS experience focusing on EC2, VPCs and load balancing.
• Proven IaC experience with Terraform and automation with Ansible.
• Scripting in Python and Bash for operational tooling.
• Experience with CI/CD and Bitbucket Pipelines.
• Familiarity with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Nginx/Apache and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Own AWS cloud infrastructure and optimise networking and load balancing.
• Monitor Linux servers, address performance and reliability risks.
• Administer web services including nginx, Apache and databases like Redis, PostgreSQL.
• Improve security and delivery of internet-facing services with CDN and edge tech.
• Build reusable infrastructure with Terraform and automate with Ansible.
• Collaborate with developers to improve release processes and deployment reliability.
• Establish monitoring and observability using CloudWatch, New Relic or equivalent.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective measures.
• Review architecture and procedures to boost availability and efficiency.
