Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is seeking a senior underwriter to shape technical underwriting and strategic influence across Scotland. You will master larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate opportunities, negotiating terms with trading underwriters and building broker relationships to drive profitable growth.

The role requires DIP qualification (or progress towards it) with a strong track record in Mid-Market/Mid-Corporate. Office-based in Glasgow with hybrid working arrangement.

Qualifications

• Strong P&C technical underwriting knowledge of the Scottish market.
• Track record of winning and retaining large, complex business through senior broker/customer relationships.
• Strong pipeline management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• DIP qualified (or working towards) with experience underwriting Mid-Market/Mid-Corporate business.

Responsibilities

• Present propositions for larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks, negotiating coverage, wording and pricing with trading underwriters.
• Build a strong pipeline of qualified growth opportunities through client and broker relationships.
• Lead the large case management process for new business.
• Develop and own broker relationships across the region, with accountability for generation, placement and retention of profitable business.
• Underwrite new and existing business in line with underwriting controls, acting as a referral point in branch.
• Maintain a quality distribution strategy with key brokers to hit financial KPIs.
