Job description

We are seeking an intellectually curious Senior Development Manager to join the Corporate Action development team of the new Index platform for FTSE-Russell Index Business at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in our London office. The Index team is responsible for calculations and distribution of indexes to end clients. The individual will work on innovative technologies with a team of developers to implement solutions supporting the strategic growth of the Index business. Responsibilities include requirement gathering from Index Research, implementing sophisticated algorithms with high precision for financial data computation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the Development Team: Manage the development team and all technical aspects of project implementation.
2. Software Design & Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain complex Java and Python applications and services, architecting new systems or reusing existing ones.
3. Strategic Teamwork: Collaborate with Product Managers, UX teams, and Software Engineers globally to deliver outstanding products.
4. Software Development Lifecycle: Engage from requirements gathering through design, testing, and deployment, ensuring high standards.
5. Testing & Security: Maintain automated tests, ensure robustness, scalability, and security, and proactively resolve production issues.
6. Product Delivery: Lead project priorities and commitments.
7. Quality Assurance: Perform code reviews to meet or exceed standards and objectives.
8. Tech Expertise: Demonstrate deep knowledge in software design and development, leading developers daily.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Electronics/Electrical Engineering. 1-2+ years of proven experience in Core Backend Software Development.

• Experience in professional people management and technical thought leadership.
• Experience in Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, Planning, and Delivery Management.
• Excellent algorithm and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate business use cases into technical solutions.

• Ability to work under tight objectives.
• Proficient with CI/CD tools & automation (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
• Experience in Performance Optimization, JVM Profiling.

Extensive hands-on experience in:

• Core Java, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
• Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres).
• DevOps (CI/CD), Docker, Kubernetes.
• Microservices and REST APIs.
• Multi-threading & Concurrency.

Advantageous Skills

• Financial services experience, understanding of financial market data.
• Experience with Corporate Action applications.
• Experience with highly distributed & data-intensive systems.
• Scrum Master experience.

Familiarity with Technologies

• Python core concepts, libraries, and frameworks.
• In-Memory caching, Spring Boot, Redis.
• Apache Kafka / SQS / SNS.
