Job summary

Nexus Jobs in London is seeking a Desktop Support Analyst to provide end-user support across Europe, with most users in the City of London. The role sits in the Service Support Team and requires hands-on hardware, software install/upgrade, and user training capabilities.

The position follows a 7:30 am–6:00 pm rota, with core hours covered Monday to Friday, and demands strong Cisco/Microsoft platform expertise along with data-centre connectivity experience.

Qualifications

• We require 5 to 8 years of proven Desktop Support experience.
• Experience with hardware builds for PCs and servers.
• Experience with software installations and upgrades.
• Experience handling login permissions and user access control.
• Experience training users in software usage.
• Experience with Cisco and Microsoft platforms.
• In-depth Cisco knowledge: firewalls, switches, routing protocols.
• Experience supporting data-centre and branch inter-connectivity.
• Strong technical skills across networking and security.
• Experience with Cisco multi-layer switches/6500s.
• Cisco certification ideally CCNP.
• Experience with VLAN segregation.
• Experience with McAfee HIPS and Trend Micro.
• Experience with centralised authentication services (AAA).
• Experience with SafeNet Ethernet Encryptor.
• Understanding of DMZ, VSS, failover, OSPF, high availability.
• Security certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide desktop support to about 130 users across Europe, many in the City of London.
• Work as part of the Service Support Team.
• Operate a rota covering core hours 7:30–18:00, Mon–Fri.
• Take ownership of issues raised by users and document actions.
• Resolve issues within the Support Team and ensure follow-ups.
