Job summary

J Murphy & Sons is recruiting a Senior Design Coordinator for the Energy division, based in Glasgow with regular travel to Inverness and Highlands sites. The role focuses on coordinating design across internal and external teams, ensuring effective use of BIM/CDE tools and alignment with project programmes.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in civil/engineering design coordination, BIM proficiency, and established professional engineering credentials.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in civil engineering or construction.
• Professional membership of an engineering institution or evidence of progression toward
• Engineering design experience in Power T&D, renewables or multidisciplinary EPC projects
• Exposure to design management/coordination and construction experience
• Experience with Autodesk suite including AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
• Digitally familiar with BIM, CDEs and document control systems and processes

Responsibilities

• Review submissions for quality and sufficiency.
• Lead design engineering matters on small/medium sized projects as directed.
• Coordinate and manage design by internal designers, consultants, suppliers and interface contractors.
• Ensure Aconex (or client-approved CDE) is set up and used correctly by all designers and stakeholders.
• Monitor, track and report design progress against the project programme.
• Oversee constructability and permanent works considerations for Temporary Works.
• Review design progress and detail using CAD/BIM tools.
• Monitor and report on Design NCRs and close out.
• Liaise with Surveyors, Buyers, Contract Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers and Estimators to foster a team approach.
