Job summary

Boots is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join the Digital team in Nottingham. You will lead development of data science products across marketing, supply chain and healthcare modelling, shaping opportunities into analytical solutions and deploying ML models into production.

You will partner with engineering and MLOps, monitor live data products and mentor junior colleagues, while maintaining security and documentation standards. This is a full-time role on a 12M FTC basis in Beeston/Nottingham.

Qualifications

• A numerate degree in a relevant field.
• At least three years of experience as a Data Scientist.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Practical experience training machine learning models.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
• Experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Shape business opportunities into clear data science requirements.
• Develop and deploy ML models from scratch and fine-tuned variants.
• Train and evaluate classification, forecasting, regression models (GBMs, MLPs).
• Define accuracy metrics, baselines and experiments.
• Build scalable solutions using Python, SQL, Databricks and PySpark.
• Create automated Databricks workflows and deploy via Asset Bundles.
• Structure codebases using Git, testing and peer review.
• Collaborate with engineering and MLOps to move models to production.
• Monitor and continuously improve live data products.
• Explain data science to non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain data security and documentation standards.
• Provide guidance to junior colleagues.
