Job summary

Capital One in Nottingham is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to guide the development of deep learning models for underwriting. The role focuses on leveraging multi-modal data, building advanced neural networks and delivering production-ready solutions.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders, mentor junior team members and ensure code quality with modern ML frameworks on GPUs in a hybrid work setup in the Nottingham office.

Qualifications

• Strong experience developing and deploying deep learning models for sequential data.
• Proven track record leading model development, including direction, management and mentoring.
• Experience with SQL/Python in a team, code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Hands-on with PyTorch, TensorFlow or Hugging Face Transformers, training on GPUs.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data and time-series tokenisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of next-generation deep learning approaches for underwriting models.
• Build neural networks to transform multi-modal inputs into predictive features.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and drive prototypes to production.
• Navigate large datasets with business and statistical acumen to extract actionable solutions.
• Work cross-functionally on projects supporting key business growth.
