Job summary

Capital One in Nottingham is seeking a Lead Data Scientist/Deep Learning Practitioner to drive proprietary DL models for underwriting. You will shape model direction, data strategies, and production readiness. Collaborate with business partners, handle multi-modal data, and mentor juniors.

The role offers hybrid work with 3 days in the Nottingham office and two days remotely. Strong experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow, working with time series or NLP, and translating research into business value

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading model development and mentoring junior members.
• Experience creating reliable and maintainable code in SQL/Python with code reviews and best practices.
• Hands-on with modern ML/DL frameworks and training on GPUs or clusters.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of next generation deep learning approaches to advance underwriting models.
• Unlock value in non-traditional datasets by building neural networks (e.g. LSTMs, RNNs, Transformers).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and drive prototypes to production.
• Use business acumen, coding and statistics to navigate large data and extract actionable solutions.
• Work cross-functionally on projects supporting key business initiatives and growth.
