Job summary

Sky is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Data Protection & Privacy to lead high‑level UK/EU data protection matters, translating complex regulations into pragmatic business guidance. You will shape governance and DPIA/transfer strategies, partnering with DPO, DP Operations, Cyber and Commercial teams to enable compliant, innovative data use across products.

You will work across the UK, Ireland and Italy to embed consistent standards while adapting to local requirements, with a hybrid work pattern

Qualifications

• UK GDPR, EU GDPR, ePrivacy and related data protection regimes knowledge
• Experience advising on privacy across content services/adtech and data-driven products
• Proven ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business guidance

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality legal advice on UK GDPR, EU GDPR, ePrivacy and related laws for Sky’s data
• Lead or support on high-risk and strategic matters including product launches and regulatory issues
• Advise on AI, data, cyber and digital regulatory issues with practical business guidance
• Provide risk-based legal guidance to business stakeholders
• Support development of defensible legal positions and documentation
• Support DPIAs, LIAs, data sharing and international transfers compliance
• Define legal guardrails and escalation thresholds across operations
• Contribute to a unified privacy function across legal and operational teams
• Advise on consent, marketing frameworks and data-driven customer experiences
• Collaborate with local market legal teams in Ireland and Italy on standards
