Job summary

Rightmove is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and scale the data ingestion, processing, and serving infrastructure on our GCP-based platform. You will lead architecture, tooling, and the engineering standards that power the UK’s largest property site, collaborating with data scientists, analytics teams, and product owners.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL in a data engineering context.
• Deep experience building and operating large-scale, cloud-based data platforms.
• Proficient in GCP and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
• Experience delivering data ingestion, processing and serving pipelines at scale.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical approach to complex data challenges and set long-term platform direction.
• Lead cross-functional projects and own outcomes beyond engineering contributions.
• Design and build data platform infrastructure and internal tooling, shaping architectural direction.
• Develop reusable ingestion and processing frameworks for batch and real-time data.
• Manage infrastructure, security and deployments with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve performance, scalability and cost efficiency of the data platform.
• Promote engineering best practices, code reviews, and observability across the team.
• Enable self-service data workflows with analytics and data science teams.
