Job summary

Carnall-Farrar is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer in the UK to steer the data platform architecture and delivery. The role entails mentoring the data engineering team, translating architectural direction into implementable designs, and ensuring security and regulatory compliance across NHS data pipelines.

You will collaborate with the Director of Data, Analytics and Intelligence, support partnerships with Databricks and other data organisations, and drive platform standards while delivering

Qualifications

• Around 4 years of experience in data or platform engineering, preferably with senior or lead responsibility for a production data platform.

Responsibilities

• Platform architecture and design: create detailed technical designs for cloud infrastructure and NHS data pipelines; define integration patterns and data flow.
• Delivery management: own day-to-day delivery of platform and data engineering workstreams; develop and maintain technical workplans and ensure timely delivery.
• Technical standards and quality: define engineering standards and conduct architectural reviews; design security architecture compliant with IG, ISO 27001 and GDPR.
• Commercial and partnership contribution: support platform vendors and data organisations in technical discussions and proposals.
• Team apprenticeship and mentorship: mentor data engineers and act as technical reference point for the team.
