Job summary

Teya in London is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and shape the future of our data platform. You will build and maintain core data infrastructure across the ELT lifecycle, from ingestion pipelines to governance, enabling decision making across the organisation.

As a senior member, you will influence platform architecture, data products, and engineering standards while collaborating with analytics teams to deliver reliable production solutions and observability across key datasets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Strong SQL expertise for complex analytical and warehouse queries.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java.
• Experience with data warehouses like Snowflake.
• Hands-on with containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of streaming tooling (Kafka, Kafka Connect, Flink).
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools (dbt, Airflow, Airbyte, dlT).
• Provisioning and managing cloud infra with Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
• Familiarity with observability: logging, metrics, alerting, troubleshooting.
• Strong software engineering principles and data warehouse expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the architecture of data infrastructure.
• Maintain the existing data platform.
• Ensure the reliability of data ingestion pipelines.
• Propagate learnings across the Data Engineering team.
• Govern data following best practices with minimal bureaucracy.
• Improve data reliability, quality, and observability across key datasets.
• Build and improve data models for large datasets with simple lifecycles.
• Design and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines for scalable analytics and data products.
• Collaborate with analysts and engineering teams to deliver reliable production solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations, investigate incidents and drive improvements.
• Engage in code reviews to maintain strong engineering standards.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation and runbooks.
