Job summary

Howden Group Services is seeking a Data Governance Lead to advance our data governance framework across the Group. You will embed a culture of excellence, shape policy, and drive ownership and stewardship across data domains.

You will assess maturity, collaborate with data champions and business partners, and support risk management initiatives. The role requires experience in data governance within large organisations, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

• Essential experience as Data Governance practitioner or similar role (min 2 years).
• Experience with control and data maturity assessment.
• Experience of Data Governance approaches in large organisations.
• Experience collaborating with business, data and technical teams to document Data Governance requirements.
• Experience supporting Data Governance projects in large organisations.
• Strong communication skills with business and technical stakeholders.
• Self-starter able to manage multiple priorities.
• Spanish fluency (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Partner with Data Champions to review and ensure policy compliance and data quality.
• Collaborate with Group Data to implement Data Governance practices.
• Recommend and manage key Data Governance framework assets.
• Integrate Data Governance risks and controls into Enterprise Risk Management.
• Review KPIs/KRIs for Data Governance and propose improvements.
• Review remediation plans for Data Governance controls and recommend enhancements.
• Manage Data Certification Scheme and day-to-day data governance admin.
• Measure control effectiveness and produce reports and improvement recommendations.
• Prepare meeting packs and templates to support governance meetings.
• Support communications strategy and maintain Data Governance SharePoint site.
• Help ensure Data Owners and Data Stewards are trained.
