Job summary

OpenWorks Engineering LTD. in Prudhoe, UK seeks a Senior Customer Support Engineer to lead a small engineering team while staying hands-on with advanced defence technology. The role blends people leadership with hands-on fault diagnosis across workshop, remote and customer sites.

The ideal candidate will supervise, prioritise work, and develop team capability, while ensuring high standards of service and customer satisfaction. UK SC clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supervising or leading engineering colleagues and workloads.
• Extensive hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment.
• Strong ability to investigate complex faults and support root-cause analysis.
• Ability to manage competing demands and anticipate team needs.
• Excellent communication with colleagues and customers and ability to produce clear technical reports.
• Willingness to undertake UK and international travel and hold a valid UK driving license; eligible for UK Security Check (SC).

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the engineering team to deliver on schedule.
• Triage support requests and allocate tasks across workshop, remote and field activities.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical faults hands-on.
• Plan ahead to maintain momentum and meet customer commitments.
• Lead complex investigations and support root cause analysis.
• Coach engineers and contribute to development plans and onboarding.
