Job summary

Scania Financial Services in Milton Keynes is seeking an experienced Credit Underwriting Manager to lead the underwriting function for Scania trucks, buses and services. You will oversee evaluation, risk assessment and responsible lending decisions while maintaining Scania's standards.

You will manage a high-performing underwriting team, drive improvements, and partner with Sales, Credit Control and Operations to balance growth with prudent risk management. This role is hybrid and UK-based.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a credit underwriting team.
• Ability to translate market insight into commercially viable strategy.
• Proven leadership to guide a four-member underwriting team.

Responsibilities

• Make sound credit decisions within delegated authority and assess affordability, strength, risk and exposure.
• Own credit risk and portfolio quality; monitor arrears, defaults and losses to improve criteria.
• Ensure robust risk and regulatory controls and embed Consumer Duty, AML/KYC and compliant processes.
• Lead and develop the underwriting team; set objectives and KPIs; support recruitment and succession planning.
• Drive improvements in underwriting processes, decisioning, systems, automation and customer outcomes.
• Collaborate with Sales, Dealers, Credit Control, Collections and Operations to balance commercial and prudent standards.
• Provide clear credit advice, explain decisions and explore alternative structures to support viable business.
• Influence strategy using credit insights for senior management and product development.
