Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a senior AI leader for its Conversational AI team. You will shape the future of customer interactions by designing scalable architectures and guiding a roadmap across products, ensuring alignment with platform strategy and responsible AI commitments.

You will lead a team of AI Engineers, coaching across engineering, data science and architecture, and drive reusable AI capabilities and platforms that accelerate innovation within the Group.

Qualifications

• Recognised expertise in GenAI and agentic AI technology; proven ability to deliver AI systems to production.
• Strong experience with NLP technologies: generative AI, chatbots, language models, transformers, vector stores and search algorithms.
• Experience building and extending a full conversational AI architecture from frontend to backend integrations.
• Experience understanding and applying ethical AI standards.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leaders and partner teams.
• Experience working in regulated environments with reliability, security, safety and explainability risks.
• Line management experience coaching multiple levels of technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Act as the leading technical authority for complex AI engineering challenges; guide architecture decisions.
• Review solution designs and influence implementation approaches across teams.
• Translate strategic priorities into a Conversational AI roadmap and foster innovation.
• Coach and develop a high-performing AI engineering team.
• Lead development of reusable AI capabilities and platforms across the Group.
• Evaluate new technologies via applied research, prototyping, and use-case identification.
