Job summary

BW Integrated Systems seeks an experienced Controls Engineer to develop PLC and HMI code for packaging automation equipment. You will work with mechanical and electrical design to meet project requirements, achieve on-time delivery, and support customers through startup and commissioning.

The role requires 2+ years in controls, HNC/HND in engineering, and expertise in Rockwell/Siemens PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP/Profinet). Occasional UK/overseas travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in Controls & Automation in packaging or similar industry.
• Education in engineering to HNC / HND level or equivalent.
• Experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLCs and HMIs is essential.
• Knowledge of Ethernet/IP and Profinet protocols is essential.
• Ability to generate design specs and perform risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program PLC and HMI software across equipment and lines.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical design to meet project requirements.
• Perform site visits, start-up, commissioning and remote support as needed.
• Create functional, detailed and software design specifications from user needs.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61131-3, ISO 12100 and CE documentation.
• Support safety and risk assessments and implement countermeasures.
• Assist commercial teams with technical solutions and timelines.
