Job summary

Samuel Frank is recruiting a Senior Controls Engineer for a West Yorkshire based special purpose machinery and automation business. You will design, program and commission PLC and HMI systems across bespoke machinery, collaborating with mechanical, electrical and software engineers.

The role involves hands-on development with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff and Schneider platforms, plus FAT/SAT testing and international site commissioning.

Qualifications

• Extensive PLC programming experience in special purpose machinery or OEM environments.
• Design, program and commission PLC and HMI control systems for bespoke machinery and automation projects.
• HMI/SCADA development with FactoryTalk Optix or Siemens Unified is advantageous.
• FAT and SAT testing and commissioning experience.
• Troubleshoot control systems faults, software issues and industrial networks.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineering teams throughout projects.
• Some UK/international travel to customer sites will be required.

Responsibilities

• Design, program and commission PLC and HMI control systems for bespoke machinery and automation projects.
• Develop control architectures, wiring diagrams, system layouts and functional design specifications.
• FAT and SAT testing and commissioning of automation solutions.
• Troubleshoot control system faults, software issues and industrial network problems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software teams across the project lifecycle.
• Support on-site commissioning at UK and international customer sites.
