Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role combines software development, electrical controls and commissioning, with hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 from home).

You will own projects from concept to customer acceptance, designing PLC/HMI, integrating robotics and servo systems, and ensuring safety standards across the full engineering lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience programming PLC and HMI in industrial automation.
• Background designing control systems for automated machinery.
• Experience with servo drives and motion control.
• Familiarity with robotics and vision systems (ABB/FANUC preferred).
• Strong understanding of electrical control systems and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and program PLC and HMI systems for bespoke machinery.
• Take technical ownership from specification through commissioning.
• Develop electrical control designs and technical documentation.
• Integrate servo drives, motion control, robotics and vision into equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure cohesive operation.
• Ensure safety standards and FAT/SAT compliance; support commissioning.
