Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Controls & Automation Engineer in Bridgwater, Somerset, to own the electrical controls and software elements of bespoke machinery projects across the UK and beyond. Hybrid role with three days in the Bridgwater office and two days at home.

You'll design PLC/HMI, integrate servo motion, robotics and vision, and work closely with mechanical engineers from concept to commissioning, ensuring safety standards and on-time delivery.

Formación

• Experienced in designing, developing and programming PLC and HMI for bespoke automated machinery.
• Strong background in control systems for automated machinery or specialist equipment.
• Experience with servo drives, motion control and automation technologies.
• Knowledge of robotics and vision systems (ABB/FANUC preferred).
• Understanding of electrical control systems, schematics and panel design.
• Knowledge of machinery safety, risk assessments and safety-related controls.
• Experience commissioning automated machinery including FAT and SAT.
• Ability to own projects and work with mechanical engineers and customers.
• Strong problem solving, communication and fault finding skills.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop and program PLC and HMI for bespoke machinery.
• Take technical ownership from spec through to commissioning.
• Develop electrical control designs and documentation.
• Integrate servo drives, motion control, robotics and vision.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure integrated operation.
• Create control solutions for new machines and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with machinery safety standards.
• Troubleshoot software, electrical and control issues.
• Support FAT, SAT and site commissioning.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and teams to meet deadlines.
• Travel to customer sites as needed.
