Job summary

Robert Bird Group in Birmingham is seeking an Associate to lead its Construction Engineering Team. You will drive project delivery, engage clients, and mentor engineers while working with Directors and design teams on infrastructure, nuclear, rail and water projects.

You will develop design philosophy, supervise design checks, manage sub-consultants, and oversee programming and cost control across UK practices, contributing to a growing pipeline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered with IStructE/ICE or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience with progressive leadership.
• At least 2 years in design and development of engineering deliverables.
• 2+ years of account or client management experience.
• Strong client-facing and commercial delivery capabilities.
• Familiarity with computational design workflows is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams, motivate and mentor staff, and drive technical excellence.
• Manage client relationships and develop fee proposals; ensure client expectations are met.
• Oversee design review, sub-consultants, programming, and cost control.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces and ensure QMS implementation.
