Job summary

Robert Bird Group, a global consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Engineer to take ownership of detailed structural design aligned with project programmes. You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure seamless integration, contributing to a diverse portfolio of commercial developments, mixed-use schemes and data centres.

You will lead design activities, check technical outputs, mentor junior engineers, and support resource planning while upholding RBG quality and safety

Qualifications

• A degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a strong interest in structural design.
• Ideally working towards chartership with the IStructE or ICE, or already Chartered.
• Demonstrated experience and competency in structural design.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and relevant design guidance.
• Proficiency in 3D structural design software (Tekla, Revit, Robot).
• At least 1 year of being the project lead in a client facing role.

Responsibilities

• Lead client liaison and support business development.
• Coordinate project delivery, resources, and design documentation.
• Develop engineering solutions and lead design philosophy.
• Produce preliminary and detailed designs for temporary and permanent works.
• Carry out design checking, technical reporting and subcontractor coordination.
• Develop erection schemes and specialist engineering methodologies.
• Support Associates and Associate Directors with resource planning, technical delivery, and project coordination.
• Support cost control, fee proposals, and project variations.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to site teams.
• Ensure temporary works are designed, checked and constructed safely.
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development.
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Health & Safety and RBG procedures.
