Job summary

Pen Underwriting, part of Gallagher, seeks a Senior Development Underwriter/Manager to join the Construction & Casualty team in Manchester. You’ll build broker relationships, develop new business, and manage facilities while upholding underwriting discipline.

Lead and mentor a team, underwrite complex risks, and provide technical guidance. This role offers a collaborative, growth-focused environment with opportunities to shape products and strategies across the UK market.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting Construction and Casualty risks, including complex cases.
• Proven ability to develop and convert new business through broker relationships.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of delegated facilities and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Construction & Casualty underwriting strategy and new business plan.
• Develop and nurture broker relationships to convert opportunities.
• Negotiate and manage facilities in line with underwriting discipline.
• Act as senior market-facing representative for Pen's Construction & Casualty proposition.
• Underwrite complex risks and mentor the team to achieve goals.
