Job summary

Pen Underwriting, part of Gallagher, seeks a Senior Development Underwriter/Manager to lead the Construction & Casualty book in the UK. You will develop and deliver the new business plan, build broker relationships, and manage facilities while ensuring underwriting discipline and alignment with insurer appetite.

You will underwrite complex risks, provide technical guidance, and mentor colleagues in a collaborative, supportive environment that values initiative and growth.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting Construction and Casualty risks, including complex cases.
• Proven track record developing and converting new business through broker relationships.
• Leadership and mentoring experience with collaborative teams.
• IT proficiency and commitment to personal development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the new business plan for Pen’s Construction & Casualty segment.
• Build strong broker relationships to identify and convert profitable opportunities.
• Negotiate and manage facilities, ensuring underwriting discipline and insurer appetite.
• Underwrite complex risks and provide technical guidance to colleagues, mentoring the team.
