Job summary

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 8a Community Clinical Matron to provide visible and authoritative nursing leadership across Adult Community Mental Health Services. You will support Clinical Nurse Specialists, team leaders and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality care.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse on NMC register.
Educated to Master's degree or currently working towards a Master's degree.
Mentorship course and wide knowledge of NHS developments, initiatives and targets.
Experience at Band 7 in a clinical NHS environment in leadership or managerial roles.
Proven ability to lead service areas and maintain UK professional registration.

Responsibilities

Provide professional and clinical leadership, supervision, support and challenge to nursing teams.
Maintain oversight of nursing standards, nurse-led services, medicines-related practice and safer staffing.
Lead and support quality improvement, clinical audit and service development.
Lead reviews and investigations relating to nursing practice and ensure learning is embedded.
Promote service-user involvement, dignity, inclusion and shared decision-making.
Support workforce development and succession planning.
Provide senior nursing advice and deputise for Head of Nursing when required.
Oversee nurse-led clinics, medicines management and patient safety in community settings.
Collaborate with senior clinical and operational colleagues to promote excellence in nursing practice.
